Blackberry Picking

We enjoyed a lovely sunny day of blackberry picking in our local area. The children had great fun exploring the hedgerows in search of ripe blackberries, and by the end we had collected a large container full!

6th Class then used the berries to make delicious homemade blackberry jam in our school kitchen.

A big thank you to all our staff for supporting this unique learning experience, a very special thank you to the McGrath family for kindly allowing us access to their field, and thank you to all the families who brought in jars for the jam. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn, explore and enjoy the fruits of our local community in which we made 20 pots of blackberry jam!
